Additional Recommended Shopify Settings When Offering TBYB

To maximize the effectiveness of the "Try with Mirra" service on your Shopify store, specific settings need to be configured. These adjustments ensure that the checkout process is smooth, and communication lines between your store and customers are clear, enhancing the overall customer experience.

 

Step 1: Collect Customer Contact Information

Purpose: To ensure seamless communication with customers for order completion.

Instructions:

  1. Access your Shopify admin panel and navigate to 'Settings' > 'Checkout' to adjust settings.
  2. In the 'Customer contact' section, select the option that mandates customers to provide their email.
  3. Make sure to set the 'Shipping address phone number' as 'Required' to enable communication via SMS or call if needed.

Step 2: Update Checkout Page Text

To provide maximum clarity and improve conversion, you should update specific labels in your checkout settings. This ensures customers understand that they are entering a "Try Before You Buy" agreement and explains why a pending hold may appear on their card.

Instructions: Accessing Language Settings

  1. In your Shopify admin panel, navigate to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Locate your Active Theme.

  3. Click the three dots (···) icon and select Edit default theme content.


Update the Text Fields

Use the Search filter at the top of the page to find each of the following fields and update them with the recommended text:

1. Deferred Total Due Date Label

  • Search for: Deferred total due date label

  • Update to: Total due after trial (if kept)

  • Why: This clearly outlines payment expectations so customers aren't surprised by a future charge.

2. Buyer Consent (Cart)

  • Search for: Buyer consent cart

  • Update to:

By confirming this order, you accept our Try Before You Buy terms. We’ll place a hold on the full amount of your order on your card to reserve the items, but you won’t be charged now. This will appear as pending in your account, not as a completed payment. Please ensure you have sufficient funds available. You will only be charged if you decide to keep the items. A $10 return fee will apply only if all items are returned.

Technical Note: We recommend filling this field out now to prepare your store. However, please be aware that due to an ongoing Shopify issue, this specific "Buyer Consent" text may not display to all customers at this time. We are investigating a workaround with Shopify's team to ensure this renders correctly. 

3. Fixed Direct Payment Terms

  • Search for: Fixed direct payment terms

  • Update to: TRY AT HOME: The full amount will appear as a pending transaction to reserve your items. You are only charged for what you keep.
